ROCHESTER, NEW YORK (August 31, 2008)  Some days you’re the windshield and some days you’re the bug.  Marc Caruso was wondering which one he was on Friday at the NHRA Cecil County Division 1 event.  Whatever could go wrong, did go wrong…and then some.  Turned out Marc was neither - he persevered in true Caruso style and took his 588 powered ’70 Chevelle to the winner’s circle - earning an NHRA Wally for his efforts.

Racing for 20 years, Marc currently runs 10.90 events whenever he can up & down the eastern US.  This win puts him in the #5 spot in NHRA Super Street Division 1 points.  With two more races yet to go, Marc is a strong contender for the 2008 Super Street Division 1 championship.

Marc, a regular competitor in the Joe’s Transmission TNT 10.90 Super Series, contributes much of his success to being able to race locally at 10.90 events.  “It’s all about getting seat time.  The TNT Series is great because not only do we get data to dial in the car in all sorts of different conditions, but we also get to compete against some of the toughest racers around,” commented Marc.

For the highly coveted Wally, Marc faced off against the always-tough Scott Steiner.  Both drivers were cutting teen lights all day.  But in the final, Scott went .001 red so Marc cruised to the win running an almost dead-on 10.898 out the back door taking his first NHRA points race in the Super Street class.

Just one week earlier, Marc took home an IHRA Ironman at the Summit Racing Equipment Pro Am event at Quaker City in Salem, Ohio. Again with teen lights all day, he cut a .008 light against Tim Schuck (.035) and won on a double breakout (10.890 to 10.869) with a .006 margin of victory!  This win puts him #7 in the IHRA National points standings in Hot Rod and third in the division.

Marc wanted to thank his sponsors - DRE Engine Diapers (Dennis Ridgeway), Torco/Insinger Race Fuels (Bruce Insinger), Amalie Oil (Terry McMillen) and Nitro Plate (Mike Fuqua).  Of course special thanks go to his Dad, Joe Caruso, Jim & Tracey Harrington, Anthony & Richard Platania, Phil Valenti, Sharky, Joe Fiano (Sr. & Jr) and Tom & Lynn Hoosigan.
