TNT Super Series - $5000/Win Hot Rod Race on Friday at Empire's Pro Am

ONE weekend – FOUR chances to win – TWO of them for $5000!

NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO (August 12, 2016)  The Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series is hosting it's first $5000 to win event on Friday August 19th as part of Empire Dragway's IHRA Pro Am weekend.

Presented by Roy and Tara Lister, this is the first big money race for the popular sportsman series.  Just like every TNTSS event, the entire payout - including the $5000 winner’s purse - is GUARANTEED with NO MINIMUM CAR COUNT required.  All for only $150 entry.  Or win your way in with a $10 raffle ticket.

The race is open to essentially all competitors – except dragsters – as the TNTSS has no weight minimum and left-hand steer open-bodied cars are welcome.  “That means Hot Rod, Super Rod and even Super Stock cars can compete!” said Ted Barnes.  “It also means that those racers potentially have FOUR shots at the winner’s circle this weekend when you include the bonus bracket race on Saturday night – also paying $5000 to win!”

This is a points race for the 2016 TNTSS championship and like the Pro Am, it will be contested on 1/8 mile with a 7.00 heads up index.  Currently Dave Gunn from Hamilton, Ontario is leading the TNTSS championship points chase with 459 points.  Jim Thomson, Harry Phelps, Mark Herbold and Billy Ryan make up the top five with only 55 points separating all of them from first place.

Roy Lister - photog Bryan EppsRacers can win their way in to the TNTSS $5K through one of the raffles.  Raffle tickets are only $10 with at least three free entries being drawn.  The first draw is this weekend with the final draw on race day.

In addition to the regular TNTSS specialty awards like the J&S Collision first round loser closest to the index $50 cash, Hoosier Tire Canada #1 Qualifier $100 certificate and Boniferro Speed & Custom $200 Perfect Run Award, there are prizes for best losing package in every round thanks to VP Fuels, Crane Cams, DRE Engine Diapers, Permatex and Jiffy-tite.  Plus contingency from Hoosier and Autometer for finalists.

Support to make the TNTSS $5K race possible comes from Roy & Tara Lister, Joe's Transmission, Ian Hill Racing/RPM Magazine, HeadsUpRacer.com, Scott Jahren Paint, The Balancing Act, Boniferro Speed & Custom, Louie’s Car Clinic and Empire Dragway.

The first of two qualifying sessions get underway at 4:30pm on Friday August 19 with eliminations to follow.  For the finer details on the TNTSS $5K, visit http://www.tntsuperseries.com/press_releases/2016/TNTSS-5K.html .

About the Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series (TNTSS):

Since it began in 2006, the TNT Super Series has grown into one of the strongest, most competitive sportsman drag racing series in North America and has catapulted many competitors to success on the national and divisional stages.

The TNTSS is a self-governing organization with input from its teams.  Based on NHRA’s Super Street & IHRA’s Hot Rod classes, competitors run on a 10.90 index in the 1/4 mile (7.00 in the 1/8 mile) and race for a guaranteed purse that pays back more than 100% of the racer's entry fees.  The yearend points fund provides cash & prizes to the top eight finishers and the Series Champion receives a prize package worth over $4000.00.

The TNTSS is committed to providing the highest level of competition backed by solid media support to showcase its participants across North America.  Events are contested at various drag racing facilities in southern Ontario and western New York and put on a spectacular show for the drag racing fan.
