Sam Lovetro Jr wins TNT Super Series event at Dunn Tire Raceway Park

Lovetro is 11th different winner since series inception three years ago

LANCASTER, NEW YORK (June 8, 2009)  Unstoppable is a good word to describe Sam Lovetro Jr at last Friday's Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series event at Dunn Tire Raceway Park (DTRP).  Qualifying 17th with a 6.999 at the event presented by JanCen Motorsports, Sam was ready to go.  The Webster, NY based racer charged through the field - running no worse than a 7.02 ET all night - making him the 11th different winner in the 19 TNT Super Series events held since 2006.

In round one, Sam paired up with Fred Gross of Brampton, ON and won on a double break-out 6.996 to 6.979. Then he faced current TNT points leader Jamie Stoneman of Cheektowaga, NY winning on Jamie's .496 redlight.  "Good thing he went red.  I ran it out to a 7.024.  We wouldn't have been able to run the number that time," said Sam.  Jamie's luck went from bad to worse, damaging his engine on that pass.  "We have a spare bullet, but it's not quite ready. We'll thrash and get the truck back to race-ready for next weekend's double header at Cayuga," said Jamie.

Jason Vitez of Elma, NY was next on the ladder and came up short in a 7.002 to a 7.020 contest.  Then in round four, it was Tom Coonly of Blasdell, NY running a 7.023 to Sam's 7.006.  And even though Tom lost that round, his semi-final appearance bumps him into the top five in the TNT points standings.

The final round had Sam paired up with one of the original TNT Super Series event winners, Dave Surmatchewski of Oakland, ON.  Dave ran closer to the number with a 7.003 (.538 reaction), but it was all about reaction time.  Sam's .512 and 7.012 ET was a tough package to beat, giving him the win by a .017 margin along with the $517 purse and $50 contingency from Crew Chief Software.

This adds to what has already been a stellar 2009 season for the Lovetro Automotive sponsored entry. Sam won the IHRA Pro Am in Maryland earlier this year and also a recent Hot Rod race at NYIRP in Leicester, NY.

"I got to thank Art Jones for helping me out tonight.  And Joe Boniferro (Joe's Transmission), Mike Janis (JanCen Motorsports), everyone who makes this TNT series come to life," Sam commented in the DTRP winner's circle.  "It's an awesome series and the competition is incredible."  Powered by a Shafiroff 427 cid small block, Sam's 1966 Chevy Nova didn't let him down all night.

Receiving the Hoosier Tire Canada number #1 qualifier award was Jeff Sobczynski of Depew, NY running a perfect 7.000 in the first qualifying session earning him the $50 certificate.
