TNT Super Series top five in 2009 - Jamie Stoneman - Second Place

Team took championship battle right down to the wire

CHEEKTOWAGA, NEW YORK  (January 2, 2010)  Jamie Stoneman is the only driver that has been in final rounds each and every year since the TNT Super Series began.  In 2009, he reinforced that fact with a total of three final round appearances.  Combine that with two number one qualifiers and it's easy to see why he finished second place in the highly competitive 2009 Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series.  "We struggled all year long with mechanical issues," said Jamie.  "Getting a second place finish out of it is awesome!"

Joe Boniferro & Jamie StonemanTed Barnes, TNT Series Director says Jamie and his team never gave up.  "These guys went through a few engines and a transmission this year and they just kept digging."

This is Jamie’s third season in the top ten and second in the top five.  A drag racer since 2000, Jamie is always a contender on both 1/8th and 1/4 mile tracks.  By the time the third TNT event of 2009 was complete, he had a commanding lead in the points.  And even as the gremlins took hold, Jamie managed to hold that lead for most of the season.

Going into the final event, Jamie was trailing the points leader (Paul Young) by only 15 points.  All he had to do was go two rounds further than Paul to lock up the number one spot.  Then when Paul lost first round, the championship was there for the taking.  Jamie won first round, moving him to within five points of the lead.  But had troubles on that run at the big end.  "There was a loud thud when I went took the stripe and the truck felt like it jumped off the ground," said Jamie.  Turned out he grenaded the engine - his third of the season - and could not make the call for second round.

"I have to thank my dad (Jim Stoneman) for everything he does for me. And Joe & Moe Passero, Jason Vitez Racecars, Wayne Sipos, Tom Coonly and Jeff Gregoire."  Sponsors on the team include Rosehill Auction House and Phil's Quality Auto Service.

In 2010, you'll see Jamie and the team at all the Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series events and at a few select NHRA races.

The TNT schedule for 2010 is already taking shape with 12 events planned similar to 2009. Stay tuned to www.tntsuperseries.com for the latest in series news and information.
