The 2012 Tim Thorne Rookie of the Year Award by Sam LoVetro Automotive will award a cash prize of $250 to the winner at the yearend banquet.

That winner will be the driver who is new to the TNTSS in 2012 and has the most points at yearend.

Started in 2011, this award was created in the memory of the late Tim Thorne.  Tim was a well-known contributor to the local drag racing community in the southern Ontario area for many years who passed away last year.

Ted Barnes, TNTSS Director is pleased to see racers new to the 10.90 index class rewarded for their success.  "It was Harry Phelps from Newark, NY won the very first Tim Thorne Rookie of the Year Award in 2011 and took home a brand new MSD ignition box at the banquet."

The only criteria for the award is that a racer must not have competed in more than three TNTSS events in any previous season.  Otherwise anyone is eligible.

Don't miss your first opportunity in 2012 to see the best sportsman racing on the planet - this Friday May 4th at Dunn Tire Raceway Park.  For everything you need to know about the Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series, visit www.tntsuperseries.com or follow us on Twitter and talk to us on Facebook.

About the Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series (TNTSS):

Since it began in 2006, the TNT Super Series has grown into one of the strongest, most competitive sportsman drag racing series in North America and has catapulted many competitors to success on the national and divisional stages.

The TNTSS is a self-governing organization with input from its teams.  Based on NHRA’s Super Street & IHRA’s Hot Rod classes, competitors run on a 10.90 index in the 1/4 mile (7.00 in the 1/8 mile) and race for a guaranteed purse that pays back more than 100% of the racer's entry fees.  The yearend points fund pays the top five finishers and the Series Champion receives a prize package worth over $3500.00.

The TNTSS is committed to providing the highest level of competition backed by solid media support to showcase its participants across North America.  Events are contested at various drag racing facilities in southern Ontario and western New York and put on a spectacular show for the drag racing fan.
