Harry Phelps Tops 30 Car Field and Wins TNT Super Series at Empire Dragway

Rain forces one race to be re-scheduled to September 29!

Harry Phelps - photog Ron RigbyLEICESTER, NEW YORK (September 12, 2017)  Championship weekend for the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series turned into a single race when rain forced Friday's event at Lancaster to be postponed to September 29. Empire's race on Saturday turned out to be a great day with Harry Phelps from Newark, New York taking the win over the 30 car field.

First, he used the tree to defeat Kirk Parry in round one. Then he was behind at the hit in round two but used the stripe to steal second round from Chris VanBaalen by pushing him under the 10.90 index.

Third round saw a tree malfunction so a re-run was called. There he overcame a starting line disadvantage and pushed Ryan Boniferro under to a 10.894.

In the semi's, he used a .002 light to trailer David Surmatchewski setting him up for the money round. There he met with TNTSS Rookie contender Jarrod Kolne. At the flash, Kolne turned it red to hand the event win and a $1000 payday to Phelps who drove it through to a 10.911.

This is Harry Phelps' third win in Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series competition.

"People say you need that one lucky break to get a win," said Phelps. "But I used a few of them tonight. I'm sure it won't be long for newcomer Jarrod Kolne to get his first TNT win."

He went on, "I'm thankful to be able to share the win with family - Audrey, Harris, Sarah and my granddaughter Charlotte and also Lindsey, Brian and their son Connor. It's great to get a win at my home track, thanks to Empire Dragway and a special shout out to Philanthropist Frank for all he does for the winners at Empire Dragway."

Phelps continued saying, "As always, thanks to Charlene Lepp, Ted Barnes and Joe Boniferro for running such a great series and Sam LoVetro Automotive for sponsoring this race."

Next up is the re-scheduled RACE 10 on Friday September 29th at Lancaster Dragway. To learn more about the Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series and how you can become a part of it, visit or and sign up for the mailing list.
